Wait for UP TO DATE

The line at the top of the launcher reads CHECKING FOR UPDATES, then DOWNLOADING, then UP TO DATE with a version beside it. Press LAUNCH once it says that and not before. The first install pulls about 2.2 GB and takes as long as your connection takes.

Start from the launcher

The launcher is what checks for updates, and it updates itself as well as the pack. Start OPERATOR by some route that skips it and nothing has checked, so you can sit on a pack that's weeks old without ever being told.

Every time, not just the first
03

Let it pin itself

The launcher puts itself on your taskbar for you. Windows 11 hides that pin, so it sometimes lands on Start instead and tells you the one step left. Worth the ten seconds: a launcher you have to go hunting for is one you'll skip on the night you're in a hurry.

Match versions before co-op

Co-op runs on the host's pack. The version sits at the top of the launcher, and if yours and theirs disagree you're loading maps the rest of the team hasn't got. Sort it out before you host or join, not once four people are sitting in a lobby.

Leave the game folder where it is

The launcher asks for your OPERATOR folder once and keeps it. Move the game or rename that folder afterwards and it's pointing somewhere that no longer exists.

It remembers the path
06

Report it from the launcher

Logs live somewhere nobody has ever been, two levels inside whichever Steam library you installed to. That button works out the path on your machine and opens Explorer with the right file already highlighted. Send the file, not a description of it.

SOMETHING BROKE? at the bottom
Ongoing

None of this is finished.

We keep a list of known bugs and work down it. Something you run into may already be on it. Send the report anyway, because the log attached to a second report often says what the first one could not.

There is a longer list of things we still want to build. Seventeen mods is where it stands at v1.0, and the list of what is wanted has always been longer than the list of what is done.

Every mod here is free. If you want to support the work, there is a Patreon.
