OPERATOR runs on Linux through Steam's Proton, and so does the pack. ODG Ops is a Windows program, so on Linux a small installer does its job. It installs the same release and keeps it up to date. It works on any distro with Steam, including the Steam Deck.
One file you run from a terminal. Run it once to install the pack, and again to update it. It needs Python 3, which Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, SteamOS and most other distros come with.
Windows and Linux players can play together on the same pack version. The installer's version is the release it installs: ODG for Linux 2.2.3 installs v2.2.3.

The button above. The file is odg-linux.py, and your browser puts it in Downloads. Leave it there.
On Linux Mint and Ubuntu it is Terminal in the app menu. On a Steam Deck, switch to Desktop Mode and open Konsole.
python3 ~/Downloads/odg-linux.pyPaste with Ctrl+Shift+V. Read the terms and type yes. It finds your game and downloads about 4.5 GB the first time. Leave it until it says the pack is installed.
In your Library, right-click OPERATOR and pick Properties. Under General, paste this into Launch Options. Without it the game starts with no mods. You only do this once.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%Start OPERATOR from Steam as usual. The first start takes a few minutes while the mod loader sets itself up. The missions are on the Cerberus laptop under DUKE'S OPS.
Run the same line again. It only downloads what changed. Everything else it can do, like switching a mod off, is at the bottom of this page.
The launch option is missing or has a typo. Copy it from step 04 again. Then run this, and it tells you what it sees and what to change.
python3 ~/Downloads/odg-linux.py statusStart the game once from Steam, then run the line again. If it still cannot, put --game and the game's folder on the end of the line. In Steam, Manage then Browse local files opens that folder.
Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora and SteamOS have Python 3 already. On another distro, install python3 from its software manager, then run the line again.
Run the installer in Desktop Mode. The launch option carries over to Game Mode. You can also set it there: the game's page, the gear, then Properties.
Sign in once with this line. It opens Patreon or Steam in your browser. Then run the install line again to get the build your tier is on.
python3 ~/Downloads/odg-linux.py signinRun it as yourself. It refuses to run as root, because files made by root lock Steam out of the game folder.
Put a word on the end of the line from step 03. With nothing on the end, it installs or updates.
